Romaine Recall for Possible E Coli Outbreak

Tanimura & Antle Inc. has recalled a single lot of romaine lettuce as it may be contaminated with Escherichia coli bacteria (E. Coli). The affected product is limited to the Tanimura & Antle Field Fresh Wrapped Single Head Romaine only.

The affected product is packed in a plastic bag with the UPC number 0-27918-20314-9, and may have a Best Buy date of “08 19 12”. They were shipped in cases packed in either 12 or 18 heads per case. The recalled product was available at retail locations from Aug. 2nd through Aug. 19th. No other Tanimura & Antle products are being recalled.

Approximately 2,095 cases of romaine were distributed throughout the United States and Canada, 1,969 of the cases were shipped to: AL, AR, AZ, CA, GA, KS, KY, MD, NC, NM, NV, NY, NJ, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WA and Puerto Rico.

No illnesses have been reported to date.
