Recalled- Bicycles, Bicycle Carrier Seats, Folding Chairs, and Leather Desk Chairs
This week's busy with recalls, and there are recalls on bicycles and bicycle carrier seats, as well as folding chairs and leather desk chairs.
Public Bikes Inc. is recalling approximately 4,100 bikes for reports of problems with the pedals cracking, posing a fall hazzard. The recall affects 18 models of 2010 - 2012 women's and mens' bicycles with "Public" or "Publicbikes.com" printed on either the bicycle chain guard or the rear fender.
From bikes to bicycle carrier seats. Approximately 40,000 Topeak Babyseat II Bicycle Carrier Seats are being recalled as it has been discovered that a child can place his/her fingers in the opening at the grab bar's hinge mechanism. When the consumer lifts the grab part to pull the child from the seat, it is possible for the child's fingertip to be caught in the hinge posing a laceration/amputation hazard. Tragically, the firm has rec'd two reports of incidents including near amputations that resulted in stitches and a crushed finger.
Also announced this week, folding chairs imported by West Elm are being recalled as the company has received 14 reports of collapsed, broken, or cracked chairs, posign a falling hazard. The chairs, sold exclusively at West Elm stores nationwide and in the West Elm catalog and website, were sold from September 2011 through January 2012. Approximately 10,000 chairs are affected by the recall.
Lastly (for now anyway), Office Depot brand Biella Leather Desk Chairs, manufactured in China are being recalled as the weld connecting the seat plate to the gas lift can fail and cause the chair to separate from the base, posing a fall hazard to consumers. The recall affects 307,000 chairs in the U.S. and another 12,000 in Canada. Office Depot has received 11 reports of injuries to date.
